A local publication that behaves like a directory.
Edmonton Top 10 started from a simple frustration: searching for a tradesperson, a restaurant or a barber in this city returns pages that were bought, not chosen. Lists where the order is an invoice.
So we built the opposite. Our editors research, shortlist and rank every Top 10 themselves. Businesses can buy exposure beside those lists: clearly labelled, visually distinct, and outside the ranking. They cannot buy a position inside one. That is not a policy we intend to revisit; it is the reason the lists are worth reading.
Underneath the writing is a structured directory. Every business we mention has one canonical profile, so a mention in a guide, an appearance on a list and a search result all lead to the same place, with the same phone number, the same hours and the same honest sentence about what they do.
We publish on Treaty 6 territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Dene, Saulteaux and Anishinaabe peoples.
